Clothes of working women
Dec 16, 2009
In the street gutter along Karakoram highway, there were two women who were washing wheat. Two children were helping them. The woman who had wheat in the drainer put the scarf on her back so as it would not get in her way.(photo①) When she carried the wheat to the village, she wore a scarf.(photo②)
There was a woman who was carrying a child on her back. She was not wearing the scarf however she had her Salwar kameez on.(photo③)
Bringing up a child is a housewife’s duty. By the way, the photograph④ is showing a grandmother and her grandchild.
There was a woman with a hose on her shoulder walking on the Link Road.(photo⑤)
She was carrying this hose that she needed for her new house. She sprinkled water on the rock then she said: “May I try your scarf ?” and then she sat waiting for me to take a picture of her. (photo⑥)
Working women whom I had met in Passu were all wearing Salwar kameez.
I was impressed by the pattern and the color of the scarves, also the way the women were wearing them. They all looked very pretty.
