Hello

Jul 24, 2010

Hello Erina,Manu and everyone who reads,

It has been such a long time since I wrote here. Recently I went to a gallery which was organized in association with Japan . This year is Japanese year in Turkey, so there have been so many cultural activities in Turkey about Japan. I went to a gallery, and saw some paintings of Japanese and Turkish painters. The theme was ‘love’.I would like to share what I saw with you. I took the pictures by myself and the qulity is not so good but also not too bad. Here is the entrance of the gallery.

And paintings;

Some written words;

I have no idea what written there. Please, help?

Here is a Turkish carpet!

It is not a magic carpet! Even If it was, I could not be able to ride it as I don’t have any kind of driving licence including a car’s!
Oppsss… I am just pulling my leg!I wish it could be a magic carpet!

Take very good care of yourselves,

Demet…

  3. Hi, Demet.
    These works are Chinese poems. To our regret, we cannot understand all works. But I understood only one work.
    春=Spring, 風=Wind, 秋=Autumn, 月=The moon, 恒=At any time , 好=Friendship
    The wind of Spring and the moon of Autumn make my mind be amused at any time.

  4. Hello Shisso & Tomiko,

    Hope you are all fine. What do you do at Obon festival?According to internet, Obon is a festival to commemorate deceased ancestors(July/August 13-15). Am I wrong?

    Here is very very very hot and I feel as If I am going to evaporate and find my place in the sky in a cloud. :-)

    By the way, thank you for letting me know about the origin of poems.Otherwise, I would think that they are Japanese.

    I asked a Chinese friend about their interpretation. Here is the reply I got:

    ———————————————-
    About the Chinese characters,um, they are beautiful poems. I’m not a great translator, but let me just have a try. Hope that you’ll get the general idea. From right to the left:

    1, Life is actually short. Hold ourselves aloof from the world, then we’ll find peace of mind.

    2, The spring breeze and autumn moon are always the most beautiful things in life.

    3, It rained in the morning, so it’s misty. I cannot see the city nor the people, then I just sit down and see the beautiful view of the river (maybe Yangtze River, I’m not sure) in autumn.

    4, Wild geese are flying in the sky, wretched stars shining.
    Melodious music lingers around in my ears. Suddenly I see the guy play the flute leaning against the railing in the high tower far away.

    The poems were written by famous poets: Du Fu, Lu Ji, Wang Shi Zhen and Zhao Xia. Some kind high-hearted emotion or self-esteem. They are so beautiful poems.

    I know none of the poets introduced by Chinese friend. Hope to find time to search for them in an unknown future.

    Take care of yourselves,

    Demet
